The new birth of JCA. Envisioning and capturing the essence of the European Renaissance era, when artists in the 14th to 17th centuries explored new techniques, styles, and subject matter. My vision was to create a “museum worthy” piece which could be mistaken for a master’s.
This mixed media painting displays the depth and texture of life through the “stuccoed” background and lively colours. The large vase is erupting with flowers that signify the array of emotions that can overflow and overwhelm. Forget-me-nots, lupine, pink anemone, purple Nolana, and wild flowers all tussled together in what we would call an arrangement.
To finish it off, the canvas edges are gilded with gold leaf to add a little sparkle to the otherwise dark scene.
